The official inauguration of the Vizhinjam International Seaport on May 2, 2025, marked a major milestone for India’s maritime sector. Widely described in national and international media as a symbol of new-age development, Vizhinjam is positioned as India’s first deepwater transshipment hub with global ambitions.
The ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside political leaders including Shashi Tharoor, underlined the project’s national importance and the strong collaboration between public and private stakeholders. The coastal region celebrated the opening with visible pride, reflecting high expectations for economic growth, employment and international connectivity.
In the hours leading up to the inauguration, a technical delegation toured the terminal facilities. During this visit, Prime Minister Modi was introduced to the technologies that position Vizhinjam among the most advanced container terminals in the world.
Camco Technologies’ full road-to-vessel portfolio forms part of the terminal’s operational backbone, supporting seamless identification, tracking and visibility across landside and quayside processes. This includes THE TWINBRIDGE, Camco’s real-time digital twin environment providing operational insight across the terminal ecosystem.
The Vizhinjam project stands as a strong example of how advanced automation, digitalisation and close cooperation between partners can support the next generation of port infrastructure.
