How it works
A typical RMG-CAM setup consists of one pair of high-end industrial cameras mounted on the RMG crane legs, with an unobstructed view of the container flight path. As each container passes, the cameras capture high-resolution images of the short sides — day and night, in all weather conditions — supported by built-in LED light projectors for optimal illumination.
Once images are captured, Camco’s AI-powered recognition engine immediately processes the data. The system supports all standard container sizes (20/40/45ft) and reliably extracts:
- Container ID and ISO code
- Seal presence
- Door direction
- Dangerous goods labels
Processed data is sent instantly to the Terminal Operating System, ensuring real-time alignment between crane moves and inventory.

Special cases
- We have solutions for track tot track moves, usually for rail terminals between countries having a different gauge.
- Additionally, a door-side check can be performed, enabling the operator to rotate the container by 180° to ensure that all container doors face the same direction.
- Its common the containers are turned 45 degrees between the rail and the truck side. We have a cameras setup supporting this turn.
Exception handling
Exception handling is supported in THE BRIDGE. Every exception creates an exception job in the exception workstation of THE BRIDGE.
- Incorrect or missing container numbers
- Seal presence inconsistencies
- Dangerous goods label interpretation
- Automatic damage inspection
Because exception counts remain low, one operator can monitor multiple cranes.
